5 Pinterest Tips to Explode Your Blog

Hello, Goddesses. I hope all is well in your life, your business, and your creativity. So if you follow me on on IG @themommiegoddess (I’d love to see you there), you know that I am a Pinterest Virtual Assistant and I am always singing the praises of Pinterest and what it has done for my blog. I want to take a moment to share just five Pinterest Strategies to add value your blog.

Pinterest Tips for bloggers

Pinterest has brought traffic to my blog that I would not have otherwise had. My audience is there and I can get my content in front of them with ease. It does, however, require some skill and know how, but that’s why I’m here.

    1. Start Pinning your Content 45 days out. I got this tip from the Simple Pin Podcast, which I love. If you’re creating a gift guide or writing a blogpost centered around a major holiday, do so 45 days before the event. Why? Pinners are looking for ideas on what to buy, what to DIY, or what to wear early. It also gives you a greater chance of having your pins repinned. Holidays and events to put on your content calendar: Spring outfits, cleaning, or crafts, Summer trips, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, Fourth of July, Graduation, Christmas, Thanksgiving, International Woman’s Day.
    2. Test your Pin designs. I like to see which Pins are going to attract people to my blogposts. I usually create 2 different pins with different colors, graphic, font, and even words to see which pin designs get a bigger click-through rate. Remember, it’s all about the click-through.
    3. Provocative titles get a higher click-through rate. Humans like juicy content and they love intriguing headlines. Your headline is so important. My biggest post to date is 13 lessons I learned when I Left my Husband. I knew that people would want the tea on that. It’s human nature. It did even better than I thought and I owe it to my headline on my Pinterest image. Of course, you want to make sure that you follow through with a great post, but getting your audience there is half the battle.

4. Followers don’t matter. Gaining followers on Pinterest isn’t easy. It’s nothing like Instagram and frankly, it doesn’t really matter on Pinterest. On Pinterest, you now have a smart feed. You repin something and instantly your feed is filled with more of that content (which makes it oh so easy to go down a rabbit hole of information). You rarely see who posted what. Most of the time what you see is not from someone you’re following. This is great for you because your content can get in front of people who don’t follow you. This is also great because you can be new to Pinterest and still be successful.
5. Use a Scheduler. I use Tailwind to schedule my pins, my repins, and my clients’ pins. At the beginning of the month, I can schedule my content and forget it. Tailwind also knows the optimal times people are on Pinterest, which takes the guesswork out of when to pin out of the equation. Want to try Tailwind for Free? Click here. No credit card needed!

BONUS: Do you take beautiful, crisp photos and have an eye for aesthetics that shows up in your images. You are Pinterest Gold. Get over to Pinterest and rock it. Your images have probably been pinned over there anyway!

BONUS 2: Pinterest group boards are a great way to share your Pins. I’m now accepting new collaborators in my Pinterest groups Bloggers of Color Pin Here! and Blog Ideas, Content, and Tips.

So I hope these Pinterest Tips help you find success in your pinning journey. Make sure that if you have a Pin go viral you have a plan for what to do with that audience. Do you have a great opt-in? With a great opt-in you can get some of those people to your mailing list and you can begin to nurture that list and one day offer them courses, products, affiliate sales, or coaching.
