How to Plan a Black Panther Birthday Party in 7 steps

Black Panther Birthday Party

Does anyone else still want to move to Wakanda? I sure do. But in the meantime I brought Wakanda to my home! What was supposed to be a small gathering of friends to celebrate my baby’s 1st birthday quickly evolved into a full fledged Marvel’s Black Panther themed party with guests dressing up as well. It was more fun than I ever imagined. I would like to give a few tips, If you want to throw a Black Panther party, because unfortunately, I could not find a whole lot of Black Panther themed birthday products (not even at Party City). I’m hoping this changes soon.

  1. Choose a color scheme

We went with black and gold.  Black tablecloths and gold serving and eating utensils, black and gold candy for the candy buffet, and black and gold balloons (all from Party City). Blue and black would be perfect, too. Really you can’t go wrong with the color scheme.

     2. Have friends dress the part.

In the invite, we asked friends to either wear a Black Panther t-shirt or African attire. It was so much fun to see everyone representing the film and our ancestors. Tip: Find Black Panther tees at Spencers, Hot Topic, Redbubble, Etsy, or FYE.

3. Have Vibranium

Not really, but you can have a cooler full of drinks and create a cute print out that says vibranium. And if the party is for adults, you can create a vibranium colored adult drink.Black Panther Birthday Party

4. Have the birthday kid dress up like T’Challa, Nakia, Erik Killmonger, or Shuri.

You can either dress up your little one in a Black Panther costume or dress him up as King T’Challa out of costume. We found my son’s dashiki at our local mall but you can find them here on Amazon.Black Panther Birthday Party

5. Black Panther themed food (African or soul food buffet).

I missed the mark on this one. We actually had Panda Express cater our meal and my dad bought crab legs. Hey, it was in our budget and it was delicious. We also made a simple vegetable tray.

6. Black Panther cake toppers.

I purchased a beautiful two-tiered cake from Walmart and they had an edible Black Panther design and on the top, I put Black Panther toys from Amazon. The cake was gorgeous and he could play with the toppers afterward.Black Panther Birthday Party Black Panther Birthday Party Black Panther Birthday Party Black Panther Birthday Party Black Panther Birthday Party

7. Black Panther-inspired gifts.

It was a lot of fun opening up baby Cairo’s gifts. He received much needed and appreciated clothes, books, and toys. Here are some of his Black Panther-inspired gifts. Black Panther Birthday Party
